In this talk, we discuss the geometry of Poincaré-Einsteinmanifolds, which provide a natural setting for the Dirichlet boundary problem for the Einstein equations and serve as a mathematical foundation for the AdS/CFT correspondence. We describe the geometric behavior of these manifolds when the conformal infinity has either a positive or negative Yamabe constant.
